Introduction and motivation, technology developments, scaling laws, continuum hypothesis, hydrodynamics, electrostatics and electrodynamics, basic equations of physico-chemical hydrodynamics, Poisson-Boltzmann distribution, electric double layers and their overlap in nanochannels, zeta potential, electro-osmotic transport in nano- and microchannels, electro-viscous effects, electro-phoretic transport and separation, field induced polarization, nanofilters, dielectrophoresis, experimental characterization and applications.
